The artificiality of consumer culture is the central theme of Andy Warhol’s work. Born in 1928, he died in 1987 at the age of 59 in New York. His work comprised the whole range of the everyday and the trivial and also “images“ of wellknown personalities or cult figures. After studying at the Carnegie Institute of Technology, Warhol went to New York, where his work radically changed the prevailing views of art and aesthetics. With his absolute belief in the present, its objects and consumer goods, he created fascinating testimonials of our era in his “factory“.
