Victor Vasarely, who was born in 1908 in Pécs, Hungary, attended the private college of art of Sandor Bartnyk, which has been referred to as the Budapester Bauhaus. After he completed his studies, he worked in Paris as a commercial artist. Today, Victor Vasarely is considered one of the main representatives of Op-Art, an art style which wants to draw the observer’s attention to the optical fascination of color. The abstract structural and formal experiments with geometrical patterns are typical of Vasarely’s extraordinary paintings. The arrangement of the geometrical patterns creates the effect of movement and spatial perspective in the observer.
