The bull series by the Dutch painter Monica Rotgans uses an archaist touch to
portray the animal`s gestures, revealing a fascination for the only "domestic animal"
that never really succumbed to human beings and still retains somethin of its innate
original strength. With its precipitous movements, rearing up and resisting, the bull
embodies the artist`s deep longing to break out of her confines.
