Mark Rothko is one of the most important representatives of Color Field Painting, and he demonstrates rich variations thereof. The artist only discovered his characteristic style at the end of the 1940s. Large overlapping colored areas of diffuse and brilliant light characterize his paintings. Mark Rothko´s images do away with clear diving lines and create an impression of depth.
Mark Rothko was born in 1903 in Lithuania and died in 1970 in New York.
