During his long career, Pablo Picasso, who was born in Malaga in 1881 and died in Mougins in France in 1973, developed a variety of styles and forms which had a decisive influence on 20th century art. Not only his painting is of major importance but also his graphic art, sculpture and ceramic work. In 1907, Picasso surprised the art world with Analytical Cubism, which shows an object broken down into its individual elements. With this new aesthetic style, influenced by simple Iberian sculpture, he made a clear break between the art of the 19th century and that of the 20th.
