It is the incredibly forceful vitality of Madjid's works that captures the onlooker. His abstract paintings literally vibrate from the skillfull selection of colors which, applied with strong brush-strokes, contrast vividly with each other before merging in spirited light-heartedness to form a whole. Yet Madjid displays his artistic ability not only by using this informal style. He also paints landscapes with a slightly impressionist touch that are equally strikting, luring the beholder into their seemingly infinite expanses. With his accomplished use of light and shade, contrasting and harmonious colors, he creates a plasticity, giving his landscapes a unique feeling of depth and spaciousness. Our eye meanders across flowering meadows, coming to rest in the shade of the trees to then move on across wide fields and lose itself in the far distance. Born in Teheran in 1943, Madjid comes from the Rahnavardkar family of Persian artists and has been painting since he was sixteen, After receiving various awards for his paintings and sculptures, he studied in Munich at the Zöllner & Huber Academy. Munich was to become his home for more than twenty-five years. Meanwhile one of the principal exponents of contemporary expressionism, the painter now lives in North Germany and in Majorca. His works are already to be found in well-known art collections in Europe, America and Asia.
