He was born in Vienna in 1928, his birth name reading Stowasser. His ”unusual sense of colors and forms“ was emphasized in the school report he received at the age of eight. After taking his school leaving exam he attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna for three months. Influenced by Egon Schiele, Erich Kampmann and Paul Klee. A cosmopolitan on the move, numerous world tours (the Islands of Cape Verde, Tahiti, New Zealand and many other places) some of which on his ship ”Regentag“ (Rainy Day), many stays abroad, countless exhibitions and honours all over the world. Guest lecturer at the art academy in Hamburg. Co-operation in films. Stamps and medals with Hundertwasser motifs. Strong commitment to environmental protection (Greenpeace, Cousteau), talks on ecology and art (Unesco, American Senate), actions against atomic energy and totalitarian architecture. Presentation of ”roof afforestations“ manifesto of the ”Fensterrecht“ (your right to windows) and ”Baumpflicht“ (your duty to the trees), experiments with the humus lavatory and waterpurification with the help of aquatic plants. For the city of Vienna he designed a residential building suitable for man and nature and constructed it in the Löwengasse. He designs the green ”KORU flag“ for New Zealand and the ”ULURU-DOWN-UNDER flag“ for Australia.
