Georges Braque, who was born in 1882 in Argenteuil-sur-Seine, is one of the most important personalities in modern art. His intensive analysis of avant-garde art and his experiments of different styles and techniques made his artwork an indicator of modern art. Initially influenced by the Fauves, Braque turned to Cubism, prompted by his friendship with Pablo Picasso. Later on, birds were often the subject of his paintings: In 1953, Georges Braque designed the coffered ceiling of the Etruscan hall in the Louvre with the favorite motif of his late artistic period.Georges Braque died in Paris in 1963.
