Christian Heinrich, born in 1957, paved the way for his career as an artist at the Art Academy in Berlin. He now works as a painter, using an extremely carefully-devised pictorial language comprising elements that he has consistently developed for himself. Papers applied to a supportive base are treated in a variety of ways, e.g. saturated, oiled, crumpled, to subsequently rise up from the background, forming into clumps and resembling islands. The application of color and more reworking give rise to a surface structure suggesting a process of creation or transience. Since 1987, his works have been admired at individual and joint exhibitions at home and abroad.
