Born in Salzburg in 1969, Michael Ferner currently lives and works mainly in his Salzburg studio. Water is undoubtedly the most influential element in Ferner´s life and creative work, so in addition to countless stays by the sea, a great deal of his time is spent by the lakes, rivers and mountain streams in his own country. The father of clowns has become well known for his effortless strokes. Since 1989, numerous exhibitions at home and abroad have allowed the mesh created by the painter´s finely-spun, humorous net of Indian ink to draw tighter and at some stage one unquestioningly resurfaces in its midst. The new world created by this father of clowns is impressively reflected in its enlarged ensemble and the intensive color of his last creative series. These new companions take control of extensive areas of paper to ultimately find themselves in gardens among bamboo and poppies. "...it´s not important who tells my story, a human being or an animal, a dot or a line, but to make it easier to immerse oneself it has been seen in the past that attaching considerable significance to humor is by no means detrimental." (M.Ferner)
